PCB Caulk in Older
Buildings and Schools
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued guidance to building owners and school administrators on Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) exposures from caulks used in many buildings constructed or renovated between 1950 and 1978. The purpose of this guidance document is to assist the public in understanding and reducing the risks posed by PCB caulking, through good work practices, testing and assessing the materials, and clean-up procedures. This PCB guidance may affect you, if you are the owner or manager of any building built or renovated between 1950 and 1978.
Further information on PCB caulk can be found on the EPA’s web site at www.epa.gov/pcb. Specific questions can be answered by a GLE expert at 888-453-4531 or Ask a Question by filling out the Contact Us form below. Click here to download PCB information.
