MacDill Air Force Base: GLE has been awarded several projects at MacDill Air Force Base under the Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC) with Design-Build partner, Danner Construction Company. Project scopes include building renovations, interior build-outs, electrical engineering studies and distribution upgrades, complete HVAC replacements, pavement repair and building demolition and site restoration. GLE has the unique opportunity to offer all of these design services in house.

Projects include the Marcent Renovation, which includes the command deck, hallways, vending area, male latrine and the construction of security and manager’s offices. The second project is a $2,800,000 renovation/consolidation of Building 53. This project also includes civil engineering services and will be the 11th MACC project GLE has worked on.

GLE also continues to provide environmental support services, including pre-renovation/demolition asbestos and lead surveys as part of various modernization projects.

Miami-Dade Aviation Department: GLE was contracted with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department from 1991-2001 to provide miscellaneous hazardous engineering services. GLE completed approximately 175 individual projects totaling  $1.25 million in fees. Work included facilities consulting, including indoor air quality assessments and remedial design for asbestos, lead and radon. GLE also completed a highly sensitive asbestos remediation project in Building 5A (the primary aviation administration facility), where indoor air quality (IAQ) issues were identified and addressed. GLE’s design and construction administration skills enabled the project to be completed on schedule without displacing the current occupants or causing a loss of staff productivity. The work involved the coordination of four other consultants and five contractors performing work on each of the five floors simultaneously with work areas ranging from 5,000-8,000 square feet each.
