Environmental Consulting Services
GLE has provided environmental consulting services to Georgia Institute of Technology since 2001. Since then, GLE has successfully performed over 150 projects, such as asbestos and hazardous materials abatement consulting, including contract administration, facility surveys, asbestos and hazard materials (e.g. mercury, lead, PCBs) abatement design and asbestos/hazardous materials abatement project monitoring. These services have been performed campus wide for facilities that include the Neely Nuclear Research Center, Boggs Chemistry Building, Bunger-Henry Building, Cherry Emerson Building, Couch Building, Alumni House, Howey Physics Building, Rich Building, Skiles Building, Van Leer Building, O’Keefe Building, Mason Civil Engineering Building, Hinman Research Building, College of Architecture, Carnegie Building, Administrative Building and Crossland Tower.
One large project involved environmental consulting services for a large-scale hazardous materials abatement project at the former 85,000-square foot Georgia Tech Student Athletic Complex. After performing a comprehensive hazardous materials survey of the facility, GLE provided Georgia Tech with hazardous materials abatement project and air monitoring services, including the preparation of contract documents and technical specifications. GLE’s participation in the mercury hazard removal portion of the project consisted of project and air monitoring (using a Jerome Mercury Analyzer) during the removal and disposal of approximately 35,000-square feet of mercury-containing rubberized athletic flooring. Upon completion of the abatement activities, GLE performed visual inspections of the work areas and final clearance air and dust wipe sampling to assess contractor compliance with the project’s clearance objectives.
