Continuing Services Term Contract for Minor Architecture/Engineering Projects

GLE was selected for a Continuing Services Term Contract for Minor Architecture/Engineering Projects in 2007, with an option to renew at the end of the year. Under this contract GLE completed visual assessments and performed ambient air performance testing of two building halls in an attempt to determine the source(s) of water damage and elevated relative humidity within the buildings. In addition to the MEP Assessment, GLE was requested to complete an evaluation of the two hall’s building envelopes to determine if current building envelope conditions may be contributing to the indoor air quality concerns. Once all exterior wall assessment activities were completed GLE prepared a final report, which detailed the assessment of both the building envelope and the MEP systems.

GLE is also currently completing an ADA survey of more than 600 public restrooms for USF, working with both the Architecutral and Engineering departments, GLE will next provide design thru construction administration services for the corrections.

Architectural/Engineering Term Contract

GLE executed numerous projects via an architectural/engineering term contract with the St. Petersburg USF campus. During this time, we successfully completed various projects campus wide.

Perhaps the biggest challenge that GLE faced as part of this contract was the fast-track interior renovations to portions of four buildings, involving several departments. Working with USF’s facilities staff and their selected general contractors, GLE prepared designs and completed the construction documents for this project (approximately $800,000 in value) in less than six weeks. Due to the commencement of the fall semester, there was no float in the schedule, and all project activities had to be completed on time. Working as a team, we successfully met both the schedule and the budget.

In addition, we converted a boiler room in a 1930’s building into a state-of-the-art laboratory. Creative thinking, such as the utilization of the original masonry flue as exhaust for the new lab hood exhaust, contributed to the success of this project.  GLE was responsible for the MEP Engineering and design and construction administration.  Construction Cost was $1 million.

Florida Mental Health Institute

GLE provided full-time on-site construction administration services for the University of South Florida’s (USF), Florida Mental Health Institute project. USF requested GLE to provide our services to oversee the contractor’s performance for this 220,000 square foot project. Beyond overseeing the construction activities, because the project included the installation of more than 110,000 square feet of roofing, USF also requested GLE provide a full time roofing overseer to ensure all roofing installation was completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. Finally, because GLE’s staff includes environmental consulting professionals, GLE performed air monitoring services to ensure that a safe indoor environment was maintained throughout this seven phase project.
