Consulting Contract

Client: Balfour Beatty Communities (Formerly GMH Military Housing)

GLE completed work on a contract for the NAVFAC SE (Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast) involving Lead-Based Paint (LBP) Inspections and Risk Assessments at 13 Naval Facilities within Florida, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana and Mississippi. GLE is currently performing  destructive Asbestos Surveys of privatized base housing at 8 Naval Facilities within South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi.

Lead Based Paint: As part of the scope of work, approximately 1,500 housing units were inspected and assessed, with reports documenting the results of the field work for over 70 individual neighborhoods associated with these bases.

Asbestos Surveys: This scope of work includes phased asbestos surveys for 2,871 housing units over a three-year period. To date, approximately 1,860 housing units have been inspected and assessed, with reports documenting the results of the field work for over 20 hases of demolition within these bases. 

To execute the work within the required time frame, GLE has utilized four teams of to complete the field work phase of the project, in addition to full-time dedicated Senior Project Manager, administration and CAD support.

In addition to the reports, a database program was developed by GLE to summarize the pertinent data obtained during the inspection/assessment work to provide NAVFAC SE personnel with a management program for addressing LBP, asbestos and hazards determined to be present. The database also contained remediation and re-evaluation cost estimates for both short-term and long-term budgeting purposes.
