  • Destructive Pre-Demolition Asbestos Surveys for approximately 2,871 housing units located at Charleston Naval Weapons Station (NWS), Naval Air Stations (NAS) Jacksonville, FL, Naval Station Mayport, NAS Key West, NAS Pensacola, NAS Whiting Field and NAS Meridian and Nuclear Submarine Base (NSB) Kingsbay.
    • Utilized up to six teams to complete the field work phases of this project.


  • Destructive Pre-Demolition Asbestos Surveys for approximately 916 housing units within the Fort Jackson Army Base, located in Columbia, South Carolina.
    •  Pilot Project between the South Carolina DHEC, Balfour Beatty Construction and the abatement contractor, LVI Environmental Services, Inc., for a study of airborne exposures generated during the demolition with asbestos-containing wallboard systems remaining in place.


  • Completed a contract for the NAVFAC SE (Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast) involving Lead-Based Paint Inspections and Risk Assessments at 13 Naval Facilities within Florida, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana and Mississippi.
    • Approximately 1,500 housing units were inspected and assessed, with reports documenting the results of the field work for over 70 individual neighborhoods.


  • GLE has provided IAQ, IH, Asbestos and Lead support services to IAP-Hill, Hensel Phelps Construction Company, VT Griffin, TetraTech and J2 Engineering for projects at NAS Jacksonville, NAS Mayport, Former NAS Cecil Field and the Kennedy Space Center. Projects have included: 
    • Baseline IAQ Investigation at DOD Lodging Reservations Office 
    • Asbestos Survey of Building 6210 at Cecil Field
    • Asbestos/Lead/Radon Survey of Buildings 373 and 1960 at NAS Jacksonville
    • Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Services during renovations to the Operations and Maintenance Center at KSC
    • Lead Exposure Monitoring at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Station
    • Multiple Building Surveys for Asbestos at Cecil Field NAS
    • Asbestos Survey and Monitoring for Building 101 at NAS Jacksonville


  • Provided all architectural, mechanical, electrical and civil design services for the Rehabilitation of Dorm Room No. 375 at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL.
    •  Design services included a demolition plan detailing handling of hazardous materials, plans for site work including a retrofit parking lot with in a landscaped park area and a new recycle dumpster site, a new roofing system (which included the integration of a pitch truss roof installed over an existing flat roof), floor plans, as well as plans for indoor/outdoor electrical systems and the building’s HVAC system.
    • The fast track project with estimated construction costs of $3,500,000 required all drawings to be due 73 calendar days from the start of project.


  • Currently completing the Marcent Renovation on MacDill Air Force Base with Design/Build partner Danner Construction, which includes the command deck, hallways, vending area, male latrine and the construction of security and manager’s offices.
    • Completing a $2,800,000 renovation/consolidation of Building 53 
    • GLE will also provide civil design services and construction documents for approximately 3.5 miles of repaving/restriping of roadway, MOT Plans and some minor pavement repairs. The estimated cost of these improvements is $2,000,000.
